Just Shaved…
Smooooth. you must’ve just shaved.
I wish we had the D-N-B sub genre at Garageband as a label by which to appropriately brand this track. Electronica, yes, but- RAGGA ROLLIN’ DRUM and BASS is where it lives…
Totally competent. This piece grooves very well. It has perfectly placed breaks and does all the moves it is supposed to. Here is a list of the things I thought were outstanding:
1. At 36 seconds when the counter-beat comes in to compliment the step rhythm. Man, I love that trick.
2. 1:57 when the drums come back in, great stuff.
More about the drums at 2:58, clean! Dark synth and building drum part with that bee-you-tee-full sub-base underneath it all. Sweet.
Let me say, it isn’t like I haven’t heard this all before, I have, which is not a bad thing. Lots of us out here LOVE D-n-B and I love the big Ragga sound especially. To be honest, the expiremental boundary pushing of the likes of Squarepusher and Aphex Twin tend to tire the ear after a while and we need a little straight ahead Goldie (or something, you fill in the name of your favorite urban D-n-B D.J.).
Well done. On the critical tip you might want to tweek your synths a little more, maybe get them to evolve more as the track progresses. You do have a good combination of synth patches and effects which keep the listener engaged, but, if you took those and then subtly effected them a little more over time; it would take this piece to another level. Also the initial lead synth at 12 seconds in is obviously not quantized and there are a few akward out of time pictures of- humanity? If that’s what you want, fine with me. It does stand out. It makes one pay attention, but kind of pulls away from the awesome quality of SMOOOOOTH.

Hot.
Very cool beat you have going here.
Sounds like an intensely chopped up loop.
Pretty tight. nice work there.
I really like the guitar that comes in. It realy grabs my interest. It cuts right through, like a knife.
I was actualy stunned when it came in.
The guitar sounds great with the beat.
The DJ scratching sounds really hot too.
The only problem I have with this song is in the repitition. It gets a little borring after the same thing is looped a bunch of times.
The song parts are so cool and interesting that it isn’t that bad though. This has a really cool feel to it.
I can hear the work that went into programing/cutting up the samples/loops/
I just think it could use more of a melody and less repitition.
Very cool.

Spacey, but not enough
Right off the bat, I think the introduction gives us a good idea of tone and rhythm, but little else, so it should have gone into the melody of the song much faster.
But the melody and production could have worked better if they felt like they were leading somewhere. The random scratches and blips kept things interesting at first, but start to work against the song after about a minute. The plucking rhythm in the back is useful and cool, but could have used a little more diverse tones and sounds, not just the constant scratching.
And perhaps this is a hard criticism, seeing as how some artists couldn’t sing if they were forced to at gunpoint, but some electronic tracks, like this one, could really use a cheering section, by which I mean vocals. I think it would have been a more pleasurable and classy experience overall.
A good effort, but needs some fine tuning.
