The Triops Died

It finally happened….The Triops died. Yep i came downstairs on sunday morning to find all 5 had sunk to the bottom of the tank and thats where they planned to stay. It was actually quite sad to see them dead especially after seeing them grow from just an egg.

One thing i will say is don’t buy the little fellas if you don’t like bad smells because they stank.

Time For A New Recession

All you seem to hear about these days are the talk of a new recession kicking in late this year. Will it hapen or wont it happen ? No one really knows whats going on at the moment, anything that you read on the internet, see on the news or just hear in talk, just ends in a bit of a grey area where people aint really sure.

With a child on the way in my house i must admit that all of this is getting a bit scary, and it should do for everyone. Im already seeing it at work where people on site are being laid off. It makes me wonder how safe any of our jobs are. Id like to think that ill be ok as it seems to be labourers that are loosing jobs at the moment. But once all they are gone whos next ?

Whilst trawling through the next i came accross some steps that you can do to try and cope with the upcoming recession.

Step1

Start immediately putting cash away into some sort of reserve fund. Most experts advise familes to have an emergency fund that is equivalent to your living expenses of a six month period. Open a savings account and start stashing as much as you can afford to take out of each paycheck. Make sure that you will have access to the cash in case of an emergency, a layoff or a job loss.

Step2
Be smart enough to know that this too shall pass. Take advantage of the fear that is surrounding the stock market at this point. The time to invest is when the price is low, which is when others are being told by their brokers to sell. Smart investments happen when times are rough, and buying stocks during this decline could be the wisest move, if you have the extra money.
Step3
Consider taking a second job. Having a second job could save you from hardship if one of the companies decide to layoff or let people go. Overtime work should be taken, if you are offered it by your employer. You may even need to have other members of your family go to work in order to make ends meet.
Step4
Lower your consumption. This is an excellent way to cope with a recession, and it is one of the most universal suggestions by the financial experts. By lowering your expenditures, you will be ensuring a lower living expense and that should be your ultimate goal. Eating out, going shopping, going to the movies and other entertainment should be cut down to a level that you can live comfortably with.
Step5
Try to shop smart and take up bargain hunting. When it is necessary for you to buy clothes, for example, shop at the discount shops first. There are great deals and bargains to be found at second hand stores, also. You can better cope with a recession when you are spending less and saving more money
Hope this helps.

She Is Addicted To Sopranos

Its been a while since series one of the sopranos came out, and now we are watching it all over again. A few years ago i started watching it to the point that i bought all the box sets upto series 6 (i know there are a few more to get but im getting there). The last couple of weeks there has been nothing good on the telly, apart from Axe Men (thats a new post) so i tried to convince Keri to start watching the Sopranos. This wasnt going to happen the first few times as she can be very selective about what she watches. There is a strict set of rules when it comes to her watching films ect and you have to check all the boxes before she will watch it. None the less i got her on series one and within 10mins she was addicted.

The weekend just gone we managed to watch all of series 2 and starting monday on series 3, and thats nearly finished, just a few more to watch then its onto series 4. Its actually getting to the point where she is starting to panic about the box sets that i dont have.

When she watches it she is like a 4 year old, having to sit as close as she can to the tv with a big smile on her face. She screams at the tv when things aint going her way or as they are supposed to go. This is probbly the best thing that she has watched on the tv for a very long time.

She said that she cant wait to see what happens to the Tony and Carmella story, will she leave him or wont she. Of course i already know but its still fun to watch her guess at the outcome.

If you havent seen sopranos before i reccomend watching it.

A New Addition To The Family

Its been a bit of a secret for a while now but i can finally announce that we are going to be adding a new member to the family on or around Febuary the 2nd 2009. That’s right there is a child on the way and i cant wait. We had the first scan on the 27th August to find out thats its a little baby boy

img_0001.jpg

This is the first photo we have of the boy and as soon as we get more i will post them to the site.

The baby is 4 Months 1Week and 6 Days old today and yes i am counting every day with a little touch of excitement.

Keri is doing fine and starting to show that shes actually pregnant now (makes it more real) you can read about what its like for her on www.blogbutterfly.com

The one thing thats really getting to us at the moment is that we are stuck on choosing a name for the little fella. We have come up with a few and we just cant decide so i have added a little poll to this post just to see what you the reader thinks of the names that we have chosen so far.

What should we call the baby.

Review #18 Of Jungle Reason

Almost there……
This track is an edgy, dark drum and bass venture. Something about that vocal sample at the beginning reminds me of Leftfields “Leftism” album…..that is a great album. I love the beat that drops at 3 minutes, it come in at the perfect time. All of the original song elements return at the end and the song wraps up nicely.

You’ve got the sequencing under control and it sounds good.

A couple of production notes that might help you out:

At this stage, your song sounds slightly muddy. The high hats, snare, cymbals and synths are all occupying the same frequency. This causes a lack of definition. Make sure you are not boosting the low end of any of the aforementioned. Try using a high pass filter to get rid of the majority of low freq. on the cymbals and snare. The bass synth and bass drum need this space to themselves.

Try a gate/expander on the bass synth track. Then key the gate with the bass drum so that when the bass drum hits, you get a subtle gain increase….about 2dbs. This will give you the extra definition you need to allow for some ooompf <—-how’s that for scientific terminology.

Review #1 Of Jungle Reason

Addictive bass
From the second it started playing the words “Addictive bass” popped into my head, The bass sounds really nice and well done, it really keeps the song moving and when the DNB style drums kick in it changes for the better, however maybe some more variation on the drums, get a hat or something close to the frequency of the snare and play it some so it has more of a frequency range of sound (because the hats and the snare just dont fit as good as they can)

I like the padding, it sounds cool how it kind-of echos when you play it, then you have that lower far off string (sounds like it but it could be an FX on the main pad)

When it changed, it wasnt as good as before (at the 2:00 mark onwards) the dark padding and the light padding together had a good emotion, but the song turned into more of an ambiant with that, you shouldhave kept the bass and changed it up some (it wouldhave kept it flowing way better)

the pad “solo” plus the drums got old, and i was relieved when the drums and bass finally kicked back in, i really dont like the middle of this song much, it delays the “kick” for too long (no not a kick as in a sample)

The drums were nicely done, maybe change the samples some for more frequency range (as i said before)
the padding was origional at least, it couldhave been better, but it did go pretty well with the DNB drums n bass.
