The Triops Died

It finally happened….The Triops died. Yep i came downstairs on sunday morning to find all 5 had sunk to the bottom of the tank and thats where they planned to stay. It was actually quite sad to see them dead especially after seeing them grow from just an egg.

One thing i will say is don’t buy the little fellas if you don’t like bad smells because they stank.

Motorway Lessons Should Be A Standard

This has probably been covered by many a blog or article but, why is it that not many people know what to do when they are on the motorway. Most of my working day involves driving and believe me ive seen it all when it comes to stupid people. Saying that it wasn’t until today that i actually started getting annoyed by this breed of people.

We were on the M3 coming back from Bognor to Reading when we came across a car in the fast lane doing 65mph with no other traffic on the road. I don’t get it, are these people really that insecure that the mere fact of driving in the “slow lane” scares them in to thinking that they will catch something from that part of tarmac.

I really do think that most of the accidents on the roads these days are because of these people.

Anyway back to the guy today. We were coming up on the slow lane and following the highway code we moved into the fast lane so that we didn’t under take this fool. Finally he saw that there was a van behind and moved over (6 miles later) as we over took him he looked at us and mouthed “wankers”. Correct me if i’m wrong but this guy was at fault.

I might be a bit harsh here but honestly the only people that know how to drive are lorry drivers and van drivers. I just wish that people would stop being scared of the slow lane and get in it. Just because the motorway ain’t  busy don’t mean you should be in the middle or fast lanes.

STAY IN THE SLOW UNTILL YOU NEED TO OVERTAKE……

Review #1 Of Jellyfish

hipnotic line
high rithm for this track, a bit like Aphex Twin (and that’s a compliment), great sequences and mixes of different rithms. ipnotic and surreal.

Time For A New Recession

All you seem to hear about these days are the talk of a new recession kicking in late this year. Will it hapen or wont it happen ? No one really knows whats going on at the moment, anything that you read on the internet, see on the news or just hear in talk, just ends in a bit of a grey area where people aint really sure.

With a child on the way in my house i must admit that all of this is getting a bit scary, and it should do for everyone. Im already seeing it at work where people on site are being laid off. It makes me wonder how safe any of our jobs are. Id like to think that ill be ok as it seems to be labourers that are loosing jobs at the moment. But once all they are gone whos next ?

Whilst trawling through the next i came accross some steps that you can do to try and cope with the upcoming recession.

Step1

Start immediately putting cash away into some sort of reserve fund. Most experts advise familes to have an emergency fund that is equivalent to your living expenses of a six month period. Open a savings account and start stashing as much as you can afford to take out of each paycheck. Make sure that you will have access to the cash in case of an emergency, a layoff or a job loss.

Step2
Be smart enough to know that this too shall pass. Take advantage of the fear that is surrounding the stock market at this point. The time to invest is when the price is low, which is when others are being told by their brokers to sell. Smart investments happen when times are rough, and buying stocks during this decline could be the wisest move, if you have the extra money.
Step3
Consider taking a second job. Having a second job could save you from hardship if one of the companies decide to layoff or let people go. Overtime work should be taken, if you are offered it by your employer. You may even need to have other members of your family go to work in order to make ends meet.
Step4
Lower your consumption. This is an excellent way to cope with a recession, and it is one of the most universal suggestions by the financial experts. By lowering your expenditures, you will be ensuring a lower living expense and that should be your ultimate goal. Eating out, going shopping, going to the movies and other entertainment should be cut down to a level that you can live comfortably with.
Step5
Try to shop smart and take up bargain hunting. When it is necessary for you to buy clothes, for example, shop at the discount shops first. There are great deals and bargains to be found at second hand stores, also. You can better cope with a recession when you are spending less and saving more money
Hope this helps.

She Is Addicted To Sopranos

Its been a while since series one of the sopranos came out, and now we are watching it all over again. A few years ago i started watching it to the point that i bought all the box sets upto series 6 (i know there are a few more to get but im getting there). The last couple of weeks there has been nothing good on the telly, apart from Axe Men (thats a new post) so i tried to convince Keri to start watching the Sopranos. This wasnt going to happen the first few times as she can be very selective about what she watches. There is a strict set of rules when it comes to her watching films ect and you have to check all the boxes before she will watch it. None the less i got her on series one and within 10mins she was addicted.

The weekend just gone we managed to watch all of series 2 and starting monday on series 3, and thats nearly finished, just a few more to watch then its onto series 4. Its actually getting to the point where she is starting to panic about the box sets that i dont have.

When she watches it she is like a 4 year old, having to sit as close as she can to the tv with a big smile on her face. She screams at the tv when things aint going her way or as they are supposed to go. This is probbly the best thing that she has watched on the tv for a very long time.

She said that she cant wait to see what happens to the Tony and Carmella story, will she leave him or wont she. Of course i already know but its still fun to watch her guess at the outcome.

If you havent seen sopranos before i reccomend watching it.

A Sign Of Old Age

I have never really had a problem with my age untill yesterday when i checked my email, to find a email from Myspace asking me if i want the myspace people to come to my school…….WTF? I had filled out the profile boxes with my real age (28) but for some reason they still decided to send me the mail regardless. This is something that makes you wonder why im on a site like that. I suppose that the only saving grace is that the reason i have a Myspace profile is to promote my music otherwise i wouldnt be on there. Another sigh of relief is that there are older people on the site that love it and im pretty sure they got the email to.

Either way i think that my myspace days are coming to an end in the next few weeks maybe even facebook to, who knows.

I did have a little look on Facebook earlier to find that this site has turned to a bag of shite too. I just dont like it. Nothing more i can really say to that, maybe all the new things in my life make the old things look crap.

New Toys

Yesterday while in Toys R Us shopping for some new toys for Alfie we came accross a box with what looked like sea monkeys in. They are called Triop.

I know im probably more excited than the rest of the family to see these creatures grow. So yesterday i filled up there tank with some water and emptied the eggs in. Now its today and there are small and by small i mean small, Fishy things swimming about. I shall try to keep you posted on the development of the little fellas as they grow up.

Members of the order Notostraca (colloquially referred to as notostracans, called Triops, tadpole shrimp or shield shrimp) are small crustaceans in the class Branchiopoda. Triops have two internal compound eyes and one naupliar eye in-between, a flattened carapace covering its head and leg-bearing segments of the body. The order contains a single family, with only two extant genera. Their external morphology has apparently not changed since the Triassic appearance of Triops cancriformis around 220 million years ago. Triops cancriformis may therefore be the “oldest living animal species on earth.” The members of the extinct order Kazacharthra are closely related, having been descended from notostracans.
