Time For A New Recession

All you seem to hear about these days are the talk of a new recession kicking in late this year. Will it hapen or wont it happen ? No one really knows whats going on at the moment, anything that you read on the internet, see on the news or just hear in talk, just ends in a bit of a grey area where people aint really sure.

With a child on the way in my house i must admit that all of this is getting a bit scary, and it should do for everyone. Im already seeing it at work where people on site are being laid off. It makes me wonder how safe any of our jobs are. Id like to think that ill be ok as it seems to be labourers that are loosing jobs at the moment. But once all they are gone whos next ?

Whilst trawling through the next i came accross some steps that you can do to try and cope with the upcoming recession.

Step1

Start immediately putting cash away into some sort of reserve fund. Most experts advise familes to have an emergency fund that is equivalent to your living expenses of a six month period. Open a savings account and start stashing as much as you can afford to take out of each paycheck. Make sure that you will have access to the cash in case of an emergency, a layoff or a job loss.

Step2
Be smart enough to know that this too shall pass. Take advantage of the fear that is surrounding the stock market at this point. The time to invest is when the price is low, which is when others are being told by their brokers to sell. Smart investments happen when times are rough, and buying stocks during this decline could be the wisest move, if you have the extra money.
Step3
Consider taking a second job. Having a second job could save you from hardship if one of the companies decide to layoff or let people go. Overtime work should be taken, if you are offered it by your employer. You may even need to have other members of your family go to work in order to make ends meet.
Step4
Lower your consumption. This is an excellent way to cope with a recession, and it is one of the most universal suggestions by the financial experts. By lowering your expenditures, you will be ensuring a lower living expense and that should be your ultimate goal. Eating out, going shopping, going to the movies and other entertainment should be cut down to a level that you can live comfortably with.
Step5
Try to shop smart and take up bargain hunting. When it is necessary for you to buy clothes, for example, shop at the discount shops first. There are great deals and bargains to be found at second hand stores, also. You can better cope with a recession when you are spending less and saving more money
Hope this helps.

Costochondritis (Tietze’s Syndrome)

Yesterday was a day of joy for us as keri has been struggling with some chest pains for a while now and what with the baby coming, i was getting worried that it might be something serious and that it could get worse as the baby gets bigger. After a visit to the dr’s we found out that she has Costochondritis (Tietze’s Syndrome). It sounds horrid but its not all that bad really.

What is costochondritis?

Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects the inner end of each rib with the breastbone (sternum).

It can occur in any age group and is most common in young adults. Exactly how common it is in the UK is not known but in the US costochondritis has been shown to account for 10 per cent of chest pain episodes in the community and 30 per cent of people with chest pain presenting as an emergency to hospital.

Why or how does a person get costochondritis?

The risk of developing costochondritis increases with any physical activity that causes trauma or strain to the ribcage. It is a benign condition usually of short duration that resolves completely. Sometimes though it can recur or become persistent.

What are the symptoms?

The predominant symptom is a sharp pain in the affected area, most commonly involving the second or third ribs, which are often very tender to touch. (Ribs are counted down from the top and the first rib lies under the collar bone.)

The pain is usually related to movement, coughing and sneezing and can occur in more than one place simultaneously.

Pain can also radiate into the arm and can be associated with a feeling of tightness in the chest. These are also the symptoms of a heart attack, so it is always necessary to take them seriously and make the diagnosis of costochondritis with care.

How is costochondritis diagnosed?

The person’s medical history and results of examination are usually sufficient, but if the pattern of pain suggests that it could be heart pain it needs to be thoroughly investigated.

What can you do yourself?

First, ensure that you consult your doctor and have the diagnosis properly confirmed. If possible, avoid any movements that aggravate the symptoms.

Self-treatment with simple painkillers, including non-steroidal inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen (eg Nurofen) is quite acceptable (provided you can tolerate such medicines - your pharmacist will be able to advise you on this).

What can your doctor do?

The doctor’s role is to give reassurance regarding the nature of the condition and provide treatment advice.

The patient has often already tried mild painkillers but stronger painkillers do not necessarily help the symptoms. Any doubt over the diagnosis will require further investigation.

So basically, all she needs to do is chill out a bit and stay away from stress related incidents for a while.

Intresting myspace fact

I was browsing the web earlier when i came accross this:

MySpace servers have a lot of requests to delete accounts because there’s a backlog that can be as long as two days worth of requests.

Are there that many people leaving the site ?

I started to read into this a bit more and found that there are loads of people trying to do this with people even changing there profiles to just a page of porn and still not being deleted.

Myspace - You need to act a bit faster i think.

Tricky Questions

How many of these can you get? Especially the last 4 are challenging. They are great for bars.

Q1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms: The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven’t eaten in 3 years. Which room is safest for him?

Q2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be?

Q3. A magician was boasting one day at how long he could hold his breath under water. His record was 6 minutes. A kid that was listening said, “that’s nothing, I can stay under water for 10 minutes using no type of equipment or air pockets!” The magician told the kid if he could do that, he’d give him $10,000. The kid did it and won the money. Can you figure out how?

Q4. There are two plastic jugs filled with water. How could you put all of this water into a barrel, without using the jugs or any dividers, and still tell which water came from which jug?

Q5. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and grey when you throw it away?

Q6. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

Q7. This is an unusual paragraph. I’m curious how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it? It looks so plain you would think nothing was wrong with it! In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is unusual though. Study it, and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out! Try to do so without any coaching!

Q8. You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?

Q9. If you overtake the last person, then you are…?

Q10. (in your head!) Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20. Now add another 1000. Now add 10. What is the total?

Q11. Mary’s father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono. What is the name of the fifth daughter?

Now how many could you answer?
Scroll down for answers:-

ANSWERS:-

A1. The third. Lions that haven’t eaten in three years are dead.

A2. The woman was a photographer. She shot a picture of her husband, developed it, and hung it up to dry.

A3. The kid filled a glass of water and held it over his head for 10 minutes.

A4. Colour and Freeze them first. Take them out of the jugs and put the ice in the barrel. You will be able to tell which water came from which jug.

A5. The answer is Charcoal. In Homer Simpson’s words: hmmmm… Barbecue.

A6. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

A7. The letter “e”, which is the most common letter in the English language, does not appear once in the long paragraph

A8. If you answer that you are first, then you are absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second!

A9. If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST person?!

A10. Did you get 5000? The correct answer is actually 4100. Don’t believe it? Check with your calculator!

A11. Nunu? NO! Of course not. The fifth daughter is Mary. Read the question again.

Could there be a new track on the way?

Without a doubt it’s definitely been a while since a new track has emerged from the world of slotvent. For the last couple of months I have been really slack and not really bothered to turn on my music equipment, but things have changed. Whilst I was on holiday in two weeks I had to listen to music that I’m not a fan of and we all The know there’s nothing worse than having something constantly in your ear that you don’t like. As soon as I got home I turned on the PC fired up reason and slowly started to make more music.

I must admit the whole making music process feels a little weird now but it has also brought back the good feeling of accomplishing something new. The track is not finished yet but it’s well on its way and should be with us in the next week or so, fingers crossed.

The track itself will be drum and bass track there will be no new surprises but I’d like to think that everyone will like the track. It will continue to be fast and quite dark with an added melody to give that even balance. At this point I’d like to thank Keri constantly pushing me in the direction of making more music and given me back the motivation I needed in order to start making music again.

So stay posted, the new track is on its way and as soon as it’s finished I will put it on my website.

Yep I Did Do That

I know, i know. All the websites are gone execpt this one and its shit but i had to do it. There are a couple of reasons why i did close down the sites and here they are in no order.

I was running out of patience with people. Some of the sites required users to work with the site and im sorry to say that there are a great deal of people on the internet that still have no idea on how to click certain buttons.

I was not making any money of them. I mean lets be honest every one likes to earn a few coins while online and this was a close call between themoney and the effort.

I may have been getting a bit bored of things. My brain cant cope with the same things day in and day out so maybe that why i removed them all…. who knows.

Anyway im sorry to say they are gone, im not gonna say that they are gone forever but for now. Dont expect a return.

This sites im refering to are as follows.

Review #18 Of Jungle Reason

Almost there……
This track is an edgy, dark drum and bass venture. Something about that vocal sample at the beginning reminds me of Leftfields “Leftism” album…..that is a great album. I love the beat that drops at 3 minutes, it come in at the perfect time. All of the original song elements return at the end and the song wraps up nicely.

You’ve got the sequencing under control and it sounds good.

A couple of production notes that might help you out:

At this stage, your song sounds slightly muddy. The high hats, snare, cymbals and synths are all occupying the same frequency. This causes a lack of definition. Make sure you are not boosting the low end of any of the aforementioned. Try using a high pass filter to get rid of the majority of low freq. on the cymbals and snare. The bass synth and bass drum need this space to themselves.

Try a gate/expander on the bass synth track. Then key the gate with the bass drum so that when the bass drum hits, you get a subtle gain increase….about 2dbs. This will give you the extra definition you need to allow for some ooompf <—-how’s that for scientific terminology.
