Comments:
I enjoyed it until the fast beat came in at 1:36. I liked the beat used the song ended on much better. It seem to match the slower pace feel I felt in the beginning. If it wasn’t for the fast beat I’d listen to this song often. It does help change up the pace, but personally I’m not a fan of long stretches of fast beats.

My point of view:
I am not formally educated in music. The scores and comments made above are not factual. They also may not be accurate when compared to a scholars opinion. They are based on my opinion and may be influenced by my taste of music. Although I do try to be objective. Which will most likely be the way your song would be viewed in the public eye.

Beautiful song if not a bit long
I really like the bassline. It feels purposeful and would be almost evil if not in this song.

When it all comes together at around 4 minutes it’s really sly. The drums were done really well, and kept the momentum going.

The strings mesh well with the D&B and feel good.

I think, however, being as the song is almost 9 minutes long that a melody break in the middle would peak my interest a little more.
- anongrey from Lisle, Illinois on 24Jul2008

default
An epic movie score. Well done to that end. The different sections are woven together well, though new musical ideas are presented less frequently than older ones are repeated. The basic melody/bassline isn’t interesting enough to carry through to nearly 9 minutes which, by default, makes the drums the focus of the song. An ambitious song, with some good dynamics and a funky beat.

Dire
Sorry, but your tune has just arrived in my review pile immediately after an ass-kicking five star delight, so this just sounds like so much bland, washy nothingness afterwards. I guess that’s just bad luck… or is it, actually the more I listen, the less and less I like. Even the frenetic jungle beat thrown in to give the song some kick does absolutely zilch for it. Mad drums and drudgy synths together just don’t work my friend. Sorry to be so negative, but sometimes I just can’t find a good word to say about a tune. Back to the drawing board I reckon. Now feel free to send me a snotty message, or just take it on the nose and put up with it.

the furious drum and bass breaks dont really go with the music.ive got nothing against dnb but theres much better out there.the rising strings are prett good but sadly this track never lifts itself above average

Buena suerte!

Synth Guitar Tune
I like the synth and the guitar combined chords.
Really nice, the way it builds, very orchestral and cinematic.
Deep resonance, nice change in the middle with the pounding synth.
Love the way the drum and bass beat kicks in , very unexpected.
Great vibe, really cool…
well produced..
At 8:51 seconds its a long track…
But very good..
Cool cinematic breakbeat track..

Dark Drum & Bass needs a bit more ‘umph’
This piece reminds me of old New Order song off the “Brotherhood” album. At 1:42, this tune drastically changes into drum & bass. I wasn’t expecting that. Nice surprise, however the build up is a bit too long, and once you finally release the fury, you don’t hold it for long enough. I think you could use a change in this composition given the fact that its 8:51. I’m at 5 minutes and it already feels way too long because it just repeats itself. Introduce some new sounds or some new melody. Overall, I like the actual chords, and the overall modd. Extra points for the production.

surreality
im very into the feel that this song conveys. with the slow stretching melody and fast paced grooveline having the catchy bass properly add emphasis to the motions in the song. the grooveline was definately unexpected and most pleasing. cheers.

Nice sounds.
Very cool track with a very sweet intro.
When the track takes off there is a sense of excitement. The mix and balance is very well put together with crisp clear sounds.
- deccole from Brisbane, Australia on 30Jan2008

Powerful sounds
Powerful sounds in the intro - I like the strong bassy sounds - but it goes a bit long. In fact its hard to sit through nearly 9mins when you’re reviewing. Drum pattern when it comes in is nice and frantic but the backing takes too long to change and when it does I think it needs to contrast more. I like the dark almost hysterical mayhem in the mood, and the production and arrangement are clear and well constructed. I just think the song needs a bit more variation and contrast - there is plenty of space for it over 8 mins.
- oz_slash from Australia on 20Jan2008

Good, but a bit of a mission.
It’s clearly well-produced, but perhaps it takes a bit too long to catch your interest… dropping the beat at around 2:00 is pretty daring if you haven’t really got anything to back it up with before then.

Having said that the beat is fat as a duck, although at 3:00 I’m looking up at the player and wondering what the hell is gonna be pulled out of the hat to make this song worthy of being almost 9min long?

5 mins in and theres really not enough variation to keep me interested except for the beat, which is top notch. Maybe think about toying around with the synths, they’re getting a bit repetitive. Stick in an arp or something eh?

Coming to the end of the track now, the strings are a welcome addition, they could be stuck in well earlier.

Basically this track is a goodun, but snip it down a bit and make the synths a bit more interesting and less repetitive, you owe it to yourself!
- scruffymillar from Dundizzle, United Kingdom on 23Dec2007

cool but way too long
This is a really cool song and definitely something I would listen to again but unfortunately it takes away from it’s epicness by being almost 9 minutes long. The performance is top notch nice use of simple variations of the primary melody to keep it fresh! The song itself is really cool, I enjoyed the quick drums (very breakbeat). The arrangement of this piece is excellent as well!
- PJT from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada on 16Aug2007

Almost Epic.
This track starts off great. reminds me of big blockbuster movie themes… Whoa ! Drum n bass beats
unexpected..

Drums a bit tinny sounding in comparison to the rich full pad and string sounds.
Ok half way through now . will there be a melodic change ???
Lovely drum patterns/programing shame about the drum sound quality.

Overall a great melodic piece that could be condensed a small bit .All the musical ideas and themes are presented by the half way mark.
Maybe improve the drum sound and bring them up more in the mix to do a great drum track justice.
- axlejam from Torrevieja, Spain on 12Aug2007

Music Magic
I like a large variety of music and this song fits right in with my taste. The arrangement by itself is impressive. You can tell this is not some flyby night artist. I am in Aww of this track. The drum n’ bass takes the song to the next level. changing the beat is a great way to go and kept my interest to the point that I forgot that the song is over 8 minutes.

review..
i really like the percussion in this song! The sounds all work together very nicely!
- VENACCIO from Boulder, Colorado on 31Jul2007

Over Dramatic.
This one sounds like the factory-loaded sounds on someone’s new keyboard weren’t toyed with at all. Musicially, the melody is awful - I couldn’t take it for very long. Perhaps that’s just because the tone on the keyboard was irritating. The drama in this song was way too forced.
- TheLittleshovel from Chicago, Illinois on 28Jul2007

Whoa, what an awesome ride!
The first thing that strikes me about this song is the incredible depth of mood that floods across instantly. I love it. The guitar fits perfectly with the deep and brooding synth elements. The synths are layered with precision. The drum and base snare line comes in with ferocity and verve that builds the song into an unstoppable force. The arrangement of this song is simple and executed in an excellent manner. This song single handedly brings drum and bass into a whole new area that so many artists seem to be afraid of exploring. I love this song!
- empirenoise from Hampton, Virginia on 24Jul2007

Waaaay too long!
The arrangement needs cutting in half - the 2nd half can go. Better to end leaving the listener wanting more than leave them feeling like they’ve listened to the same track twice. The fast dnb break doesn’t really work with the piano.
- mb10101 from United Kingdom on 20Jul2007

It builds and builds and builds
I’m usually not one against a long build up for the intro but just out of the slow arrangement it really felt longer than it was. When the drums kicked in I was really expecting something grand to come to a head but it was actually just that; drums kicking in and nothing else.

They were very well played/programmed but I am not sure of the choice to keep the same riff going on for the better part of the track. One one had it was a cool contrast, ballsy to try it, but in reality it just didn’t work out too well.

Finally at 3:27 you give me something different, and it’s a welcomed change, though there should have been a more prominent high frequency pad to take over the rest of the track. On top of that I really feel the whole tune could have benefited from a wider array of instruments. A guitar doing heavy chords with some distortion would have fit the bill nice as rhythm or a screeching one/two string guitar riff with heavy reverberation would have complemented the stellar drum work.

It’s not a bad song, it’s definitely listenable, but there just isn’t enough here to keep you coming in and getting excited each time you listen. As a movie soundtrack or video game score it would be fine but as an album track, it needs a bit more depth, dynamic and a more cohesive arrangement that will maintain the same intensity that the drums provide.

Once again, decent tune, but nothing exception. Great drum work.
- alanganev from San Jose, Costa Rica on 18Jul2007

monotonous
here we go an 9 minute epic!
strings are an all too popular opening instrument these days..still im not complaining this time although i would like to hear more sooner ..and not a breakdown before the track has built up…so arrangement is a bit poor so far!!
the melody here is not really doing it for me, the note changes are not really melodic.
but i do like you r choice of drum loops…amen style lovley…but it doesn’t quite fit with the synth riff..maybe a few note changes and it would sound better, also it starts to get pepetitive at 3 mins in…its the same notes over and over again. you need to create a change in direction, since the listener by now would have lost interst. and i’m finding this hard to listen to…sorry but reviews are all about being honest and giving you MY opinion!!
i like the extra drum loop at 3:50, creates something a little different, and there are some good effects going alongside with the synth..you have layerd the track quite well!!
there’s a lot to work with here, maybe the track would be better if you somehow condensed everything into about a 4 1/2 minute track?

indeed….
unique introduction with the strings, guitar and the synth. they all seamlessly blend together to give off a mood of wonder. it’s kinda long. Breakbeat!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite!! I had no idea it was coming. It has an irregular beat pattern, which is buy no means a bad thing. As it changes, it builds on itself, creating a feeling of business with a sense of tranquility. The amen beat’s high hat is unique in its distortion. My only criticism is that it could be faster, but not by much. other than that, perfect.
- DJDT from Colorado Springs, Colorado on 9Jun2007

Evanescence Beat
This would sound real good with lyrics. Something Evanescence would sing to. I like the slow melody. The performance is good. The arrangement is a 9/10. I like this though good job. I don’t really like the fast drum pattern used for this.
- DJSmooth4Lyfe from Colesville, Maryland on 6Jun2007

drugs
…take lots before listening to this track! You have to be in the right mood for this one, and I have to admit that I wasn’t. Still, 10 minutes in and I was there!

Turn off the lights, sit back, let your mind drift, and this slowly evolving track’s a winner.
- DaveSB from United Kingdom on 6Jun2007

Nice Intro
SO far its sounding very professional. Good clean mix.
I would have liked to hear the drums come in alot earlier though. waiting a minute and a half for a beat is a bit much. The beats are well done but a snare roll into the beat would have been sweeter instead of just starting the beat flat. The melody in the background is getting to be monotonous after awhile and could use some changes more often to keep the mix flowing. Other than that its a stand out song.
- electric_jono from San Antonio, Texas on 4Jun2007

nice atmospheric d’n'b/jungle
Like this tune a lot. The intro seemed a bit long until the drums kicked in at suddenly it all made sense. The tune could do with some heavy bass to sit with the heaviness of the drums! Even just a simple synth swelling in and out here and there. The defining loop is good but repeats too often closing the potential new avenues the drum loop changes open up.
- mwendwa_rukandema from Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom on 29May2007

great progression
Even though this song starts out slow, it progresses to a great song. the arrangment of the beats helps it progress with smooth transitions. Overall the song is probably a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.
- wwwmoo from United States, Colorado on 25May2007

Drums on synths
Repetitive intro of this sort needs to really move somewhere to hold me; this one only partly succeeds. Sounds are interesting, but repeating same set of chords for a minute and a half before percussion kicks in is too much. Now, the percussion is nice, I like the jam session feel — that said, these drums sound very sequenced, flat, so might need to look at the percussion. Okay, back to the synth chords - at 2:30 we’re still exploring the same 10X10 patch of turf, and I’ve lost interest. Synths back in at 3:00 are more of the same. Take another look at your composition structure and see how you might mix this up a bit more. The tempo change at 3:30 is a promising direction, but you’ll also need to innovate your chord sequences more. Mix is pretty good, things are spread out. Some of the lead synths should probably be brought a bit more, instead of the bass synths, which tend to overdominate as it is now. Keep working on it.
- TrevorL from Irmo, South Carolina on 22May2007

d & b by surprise
nice mix of instruments at the start of this. I am really liking the mix of real and synth instruments. By 1;15 I am hoping the next change will happen. Slightly surprised at 1.42 when d&b kiks in. I think the transition is a bit sudden. I cannot fault the recording quality of this track very easily, however. Some of the synth sounds never seem to stop being played for long enough. If the best bits of this track were condensed into 4 mins it would be a very well produced piece. (I say this because I am guilty of the very same thing in my music). Like it though……GREAT Just got to the end of this track and the build to the end is absolutely fantastic. Very Hybrid’esque. Please condense this track, it will be very good. Slightly sudden ending after all that time though.

I love strings
This song should be in a movie. Good composition, mixing and production. Its such a sad sad song, but I love it!
- jamesraymusic from Ferndale, Michigan on 26Apr2007

Ahhh good try!
Very strong intro. This has a world music sound. The leadsynth is probably not good with all the Tomlin’s, strings, acoutic sounds. There are parts were the sequencing is off. The D&B loop is too far out there.
- chimara_0626 from Fort Bliss, Texas on 13Apr2007

Nice job, epic. Mix up the drums more
nice intro. like how the jungle beat that comes in around 1:45 mesh with the dark epic sounding synths. They dont change much through the song though. Im liking this track quite a bit, even though the drums are proving to be repetitive. I really think the strings are a high point of this song, giving it a very dark feel. The drums are a great idea, but I think as it goes on it should mix up more. they did change at around 330 and more subtly in other places but I dont think thats quite enough. You work on the drums a bit and you really have a nice epic tune here.
- RobEarly from Washington, Dc on 10Apr2007

leads you on a path
your song starts you out on a journey of suspense and then gets suspenseful…awesome…great buildup
- karlisha from Jacksonville, Florida on 10Apr2007

Plodding along to brilliance
I was listening along to this tune and just about to say how the tune is just plodding alogn not really doing anything. This is a sign that your intro is too long.
Love the beats, for me beats like these can save any tune. Really got me moving.
intrumentation could be better, beats are fantastic.
pushing it at 8 minutes a bit
- Joshhappe from United Kingdom on 9Apr2007

Intriguing piece
I really started to take interest in the song when the drums kicked in. It’s a really cool part, and I like the racing effect of them against the serene pads in the song. I could really see this song in a movie with people riding horses across a countryside or rolling plains in the desert, or even in one of the more subdued scenes of an action/horror film. The ending is good too: clean and simple.
- OO@1353065~Jet_Kanashi from Mesa, Arizona on 29Mar2007

Hyper Drums take it all away
This starts out very dramatic with a lush sound carpet and good sound combinations. After that it seems that some of the sounds are clashing with each other. This is probably their sitting on top of each other and don’t jive as they should which makes them sound out of tune.

The drums come in totally unexpected and seem way too fast compared to the very slow background. While I love drums I suggest that you cut the speed in half here. At this rate it is rather annoying. I don’t mind fast beats, but it just doesn’t work here.
- Pixelfrog from San Francisco, California on 28Mar2007

Action-Packed!
I was surprised when the drums kicked in. It added so much depth and originality to the song. Great arrangement.

“Action packed” is how I’d best described it as, for me, it conjured images of epic battle and conflict, but with a definite modern flair.

Well executed song. If anything is lacking it’s the abrupt ending.
- madlaugher from Canada on 27Mar2007

AAAAHHHH
beat patter really shocked me, was about to lock off the song because the intro was very long, but im glad i didnt. The arrangement id very cunning, with excellent mixing quality. good on ya!
- Sonaman from South London, United Kingdom on 26Mar2007

Bend it Till it Beats
Very dreamy still mood generally music in my opinion needs little or few lyrics…the arrangement is logical and inviting…technically proficient and enjoyable
- sum_r_grateful from Atlanta, Georgia on 20Mar2007

Memorable…..but…..
Really enjoyed the intro which was just the right length at just under a minute. I also liked the theme. It was warm and gave something to get your teeth into right away.

The trouble for me was that the track was way too long to basically have one theme repeated all the way through with virtually no progression or diversions other than the addition of a frantic D&B style beat.

The general feel was fine and I think it would suit something visual quite well. Just shave a bit off and do a little more exploring and it would be great - possibly.

Performance: No problem
Song: What song?
Arrangement: Nothing to speak of!
- Sideway from Bristol, United Kingdom on 20Mar2007

Woohoo
Another interesting concept, my patience was starting to wain by the time the beats came in though, fabulously well-made beats they are too. Well played. This must have taken a hell of a lot of making, even so, did it need to be so long, and with little melodic variation that’s starting to seem like a long time. A good idea slightly overstretched.
- scatalogic from Flaxley, Forest Of Dean, United Kingdom on 19Mar2007

Getting there
I felt that this song needed some extra depth/ ambiance. I almost tuned out until the break beats kicked in, so I kept listening from this point onwards.
- HMTLMT from Leichhardt, New South Wales, Australia on 19Mar2007

Not bad
Nice spacey sounds… and a nice relax atmosphere to the song. My girlfriend, who does yoga would really like it… if it wasn’t for the sudden unexpected Drum and Bass ritme.
It’s not bad, but it’s a bit too long for my taste. And there’s not really enough interesting evolvement in the song. It doesn’t keep interested for the whole length.
- Poeplipoe from Antwerp, Belgium on 16Mar2007

Has potential, but sounds like an etude right..
Started out sounding like it was building up to something powerful, but around 1 min in you lost me. Your audience is only willing to wait around so long for the punchline. When the beat finally kicked in, it was surprising and extremely fast. In general, you can’t rely solely on a beat to settle your song into its groove. Maybe my ears are clogged, but it sounded like you just layered a beat over the exact same synth tracks that had been playing before. In my opinion, you need something else moving between the beat and the synthed strings, something to weave them together. Also, it might be a good idea to give the strings a rest in some section and let another sound take over, otherwise just shorten it. The last minute needs to come way sooner. By the way the beat track is awesome.
- CrownOfThieves from Baltimore, Maryland on 15Mar2007

Powerfull
A soundtrack should be a journey that takes you away either to faraway places or to the nearest toilet, this song is the former.Rhythm is fantastic, song is interesting and that piano, keyboard has a spacey, dark feel to it.
- calicosafaris from England, United Kingdom on 13Mar2007

mix needs work.
the mix could use some work. the sounds are good and the production is good but the balance is a bit out of whack. the kick and snare can barely be heard, I do like that they are eq’ed to be very low end and almost hollow sounding, but they need to be up in the mix. other than that, the track is good.
- repose2 from Toronto, Ontario on 10Mar2007

Evocative and powerful
Evocative opening section. Strong synth pads. Around 1 minute it is sounding a bit like a good movie soundtrack. Beat arrives with power at 1.37, but the track retains a loungey feel through the next couple of minutes courtesy of the strong synth pads. The change at 3.30 adds strength to the mix. Rhythm intensifies about a minute later and I’m starting to groove. Still building pressure through 5.30. A lighter interlude follows for about another minute before additonal synths carry it further. Poweful beat change around 7 minutes elevates it further and I’m pumpin’ to it now. Still buiding into 8 minutes — quite an achievement. Final beat change around 8.30 tops it off perfectly.
Yes indeed! Excellent!!
- KenThorley from Hong Kong, Hong Kong on 9Mar2007

cool beats…..a little lengthy though.
This kind of music gets to be much after even 4 minutes!!…The beats are cool in this though…..but i knew what was coming every time….i do like the beat sequencing. I don’t have to hear this song for awhile, because i’ve heard it for almost 9 minutes already….the keys added in at the end is nice…….and if this drumming sequence was a real drummer…..the poor soul would be soooooo tired.
not a bad song though.

it might be me but when I go on the Internet if I find a site like that I really likeand there is a competition element to it and I’ll end up on that site a few weeks trying to win the competition. One of these sites is called stereofame.com. It’s basically a site for unsigned artists to upload their music gain listeners and earn points to win prizes. This site is really addictive. On the plus side it has only been a couple of days and already I’m ranked number one in the fastest moving artist charts.
