Well after a week of having the forum we finally have a topic that has captured the debate hearts. And the topic is “yawning” and why do we do it.

I found this online that might answer a few questions:

THE ANSWER
It is a protective mechanism to make a group more alert
Or, it’s a form of herding behavior
Or it’s a means of communicating sleeping times
The brain cooling theory says that when we contagiously yawn we are participating in an ancient, hardwired ritual that evolved to help groups stay alert and detect danger.

Yawning is an involuntary action that everyone does. We start before we are born and most creatures on the planet do it - even snakes and fish.

New research suggests rather than being a precursor to sleep, the purpose of yawning is to cool the brain so it operates more efficiently and keeps you awake.

The theory could explain a puzzling question about subconscious human behaviour - why many of us yawn when we see or hear another person doing it, or even read about it or even just think about it?

‘Herding behavior’

It’s not copying another person’s sleepiness, say scientists at the University of Albany in New York, who are behind the latest research.

“We think contagious yawning is triggered by empathic mechanisms which function to maintain group vigilance,” says Dr Gordon Gallup, a leading researcher at the university.

The belief is further supported by the observation of University of Maryland’s Robert Provine that paratroopers report yawning before jumping.

But there are other theories. It’s been suggested contagious yawning could be a result of an unconscious herding behavior - a subtle way to communicate to those around us, similar to when flocks of birds take flight at the same time.

Another theory suggests contagious yawning might have helped early humans communicate their alertness levels and co-ordinate sleeping times.

Basically, if one decided it was time to sleep they would tell the others by yawning and they would do it in return to show they agreed.

Chimpanzees also suffer from contagious yawning, according to researchers at Kyoto University in Japan. They are thought to be the only other creatures, apart from humans, who do so.

The rest of the animal kingdom - including birds, snakes and hippos - yawn for other reasons. Dogs yawn to stay calm in certain situations, says Turid Rugaas, author of On talking Terms with Dogs.

Anyone who gets to the end of this article without yawning may wish to think of themselves as a medical apparition. In fact, only about half of adult humans are prone to contagious yawning.

Burger king makes me laugh, As it happens i had one today after a long ol day at work. The guys at the Heston Services Burger King are by far the slowest people to ever cook a burger.

Shocking service and it always happens when you want fast food.

I cant get enough of that show, there is always someone that can make me laugh on there when they think that they are gods gift to the talent business then get told they suck ass by simon cowell Its woth the tv licence alone just to watch them cry.

Don’t get me wrong there are some good acts on there but yea most are shocking and its well worth the look in.

I have added the new gallery called funny pictures. I have had a lot of funny photos on my phone and i have decided to start sharing them with you all as of today.

This was taken in Eton “the land of the posh” i just dont know how posh you can be with the name porney in the title of the local school. Maybe its just me and im the only one that finds this funny but it did and thats why the pic is here.

This is defo the child in me but i could help laughing when i see this. Maybe you should read it all in one go for the dirty side to shine through. I laughed so hard.

Whilst searching for things to write about on my last post i came upon this old new order track called Blue Monday.

God i aint heard this in a long time so its all here for you to have a look at. Lets hope it dont make you feel to old

I don’t know whether it comes with age or it’s the summer trying to break through but the weekends don’t seem to last as long as they should. It’s a hard one to figure because it don’t matter how much fun you have your always waiting for the next one to show up, does this mean that we are just wishing our lives away constantly looking forward to something that’s not arrived yet or should we be more interested in what’s just happened.

I’m not impressed with this whole wordpress thing I got going on right now, the amount of free themes out there is amazing for us wordpress users but, there all shit. I know, I could create my own maybe but I don’t really have the time to do this or the energy. Maybe there should be some rules that you have to follow to make the number of shocking themes decline a little.

I have spend pretty much most of the day going through various wordpress sites looking for that special theme just to come back here a day later and keep the theme that I already had.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a good site for free themes?

1, because I’m giving up soon

2, because I’m not paying for them (Wordpress is free so why should I pay to make it look good)

So that’s a quick rant on what’s going on at the moment in the world of slotvent. Theme hunting instead of making music or getting a life

That’s it I’m going to stick with the theme I got, I even stopped half way through writing this to have a look at some other sites and now I’m really annoyed. If you don’t like how my site looks, I honestly don’t care. I hate it but that’s it and we have to deal with it for now.

So, as a final note if you do know of any good theme sites please, please, please let me know.

I just checked the most searched terms for yahoo and i was wondering how long it would be before i get in that list if ever. Personally speaking i think it would be pretty cool but at the moment im only averaging about 20 slotvent searches a day that bring people to my site.
